The mythical Amazon can only be described in superlatives. It covers an area of more than 5 million square kilometers, of which 80% is in Brazilian territory and extends over eight states, one of which is the state of Mato Grosso. It is the largest and most preserved rainforest region in the world. Through this large area, runs an extensive drainage system of more than a thousand rivers, which represent 20% of the world's fresh water.
The heart of Brazil covers an area equal to that of Western Europe (2,000,000 km2), and its original vegetation is called the "Cerrado", considered the richest savannah in the world, due to its high plant diversity and endemism. Most of the great rivers of Brazil find their sources here. It is an area of enormous ecological importance, with many areas of spectacular beauty, such as the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, just 55 km northeast of Cuiabá airport. Its biodiversity is home to 837 species of birds, 161 mammals, 120 reptiles and more than 10,000 vascular plants. 44% of them are endemic.
The Pantanal, one of the last large forests, is the largest continuous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is the main wildlife sanctuary in South America. With a total area of 240,000 km2 located in the center of the continent, the Pantanal is a biogeographic basin, containing elements of the Amazon Forest and Atlantic Forest, the Brazilian Savannah and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity shelter 698 species of birds, 100 mammals, 177 reptiles, 40 amphibians and more than 250 species of fish.
The most incredible is that these biomes inhabit one near the other and respecting their species and spaces, beyond that we have the chance to see a 4 biosystem of trancision where we find springs and tributaries of transparent rivers and ponds with fish where we have the chance to do floating in Bom Jardim - Nobres. Come experience this adventure and surprise yourself with the exuberant nature of our state with the Pantanal Wild Safaris tour operator, we can make your tour an unforgettable experience.
