There’s no question that when you’re exploring some of the most renowned nature destinations on the planet, the best way to do it is away from other tourists, for a quiet, personal experience of wildlife and solitude. That’s why we limit our group to no more than approximately 9 travelers. Our small group also helps us ensure that your needs and expectations are attentively met, and you have plenty of individual attention.
There are some special places to have this excelente experience in a carefully planed jaguar safaris in the best Lodges or House boats.
Porto Jofre is located at the end of the Transpantaneira where the road meets the Cuiabá river. From here, we will explore the Cuiabá river and its tributaries by speed-boats, and in particular the "Encontro das Aguas State Park", the place with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world, a really amazing place, where live lot of caimans, capybaras and birds.
Besides the jaguars you will have the opportunities to photograph also the endangered giant river otters (Pteronura brasiliensis) during their incredible fishing scenes.
In Paraguay River, the province of Cáceres, the environment is amazing, it is composed primarily by flooded fields, has in its interior a variety of aquatic environments, such as grass fields, forests, lagoons, streams and riparian forest, strongly influenced by the seasonality of the hydrological regime of the Paraguay River.
Jaguar population is increasing every year. We propose this expedition during which we will explore the best jaguar spots including the Taiamã Reserve, a big river island of about 11,000 hectares that becomes an Ecological Reserve in the 1981 by the Chico Mendes Institute.
At Porto Jofre or Paraguay river you will stay either in a lodge river side or in an House-boat.
During the dry season, from June to November, jaguars stay close to the rivers where they find water to drink and their favorite preys: caimans and capybaras. Jaguars rest and walk on the river banks, often they enter in the water to hunt and to take a fresh bath.

DAY 1
Departure from the Cuiabá airport (or from your hotel) in the morning, drive to Poconé (100km). Here we will take the Transpantaneira Highway and start a car safari making several stops to photograph a great variety of birds and lot of caiman, with the possibility to spot deers, coatis, capybaras, giant anteaters, anaconda, and with lucky also jaguars. Arrival at Porto Jofre (end of the Transpantaneira Road), accomodation in a lodge or in a House-boat, dinner and overnight. (L-D)
DAY 2
Early morning breakfast. Boat safari in a very beautiful environment, in the rivers Cuiabá, Tres Irmaos, Piquiri. This is the "Encontro das Aguas State Park" the area with the highest concentration of jaguars in the world! By a speed-boat we will explore this area till lunch time and then from 2pm till sunset. Here, while searching for wild jaguars you will observe also many bird species, monkeys, caimans and giant otters! Dinner and overnight. (B-L-D)

NOTE: Boats for 1 to 3 pax: 40Hp outboard; from 4pax up: Marajo 19 feet with 115HP outboard.

Note: keep in mind that the above itinerary is a suggestion and that the activities described may be altered due to weather conditions, group's interests or circumstances beyond our control. Our groups have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 9 guests, so let us know if you wish to have a private or custom-made tour. Please contact us in order to book your spot. In order to join a pre-set group please check our upcoming tours.
Attention: please for Jaguar tours schedule an early morning flight to Cuiabá or consider overnighting at a city hotel in order for us to set up an early departure to the Pantanal. As it takes about 5 hours to reach Jofre from Cuiabá, departures are usually set between 6am and 7am. The return to Cuiabá on the last day is at around 6pm so plan your return flight accordingly.
What to bring: light weight pants, jeans, T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, shorts, extra socks and underwear, sandals, walking shoes or tennis shoes, windbreaker/light rainjacket, sun hat, flashlight, sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, camera, film, extra batteries. Sweatshirts or sweaters are recommend from June to October.
