Jardim da Amazônia, located in the municipality of São José do Rio Claro, in the Chapadão dos Parecis, is a point of convergence between the Cerrado and the Amazon Rainforest, standing out as the cradle of numerous springs and exceptional biodiversity. Recognized as the second Bird Hotspot in Mato Grosso and the fourth in Brazil by the respected The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, as well as being designated as an IBA (Important Bird Area) by BirdLife International, Jardim da Amazônia stands out as an ecological sanctuary of great importance.
This environment is home to more than 30 species of medium and large mammals, including 07 species of primates, such as the Parauacu (Pithecia mittermeieri), the Black-faced Spider Monkey (Ateles chamek) and the Mato Grosso Zogue (Plecturocebus grovesi), the latter being critically endangered and endemic to northern MT.
The pioneering work carried out by the Zanchet family has resulted in the preservation of an extensive area of primary Amazon rainforest, the Jardim da Amazônia!
